Congratulations to dlema, who should by now be feeling rather pleased with himself having got through his first day of retirement. Well done, Dave.

I thought today was Dlema's last day at work, not his first day of retirement.

Back on the forum as I have just discovered that my senior moment was thinking that today is Monday, not Tuesday, Dave's last day at work so my previous post was 24 hours previous. Let us know how your first day of retirement, tomorrow, goes, if the hangover permits.

Very kind of you to say so, Ken Personally I think I look a little shell-shocked. The photographer was a vey last minute thing, and not something I was anticipating.
Hangover? Not yet anyway.
First day was spent catching up on last-minute Christmas cards - you know, the ones you put off 'cos they need a wee note included.
But also went to the Taybridge Halt for tea, with Linda & the girls.
The steak pie is highly recommended!

Well done, Dave. Straight into retirement. First of all spoil the wife and family with dinner out. It's great to begin with, but be careful, soon it will be "Get out from under my feet! Go and get yourself a job!"

Don't let Laird worry you Dave, I am sure you are sensible enough to have an absorbing hobby and the days will just fly past.
Enjoy your retirement.

So speaks the voice of experience!

Congratulations, James, of Computerden, Muirdrum Carnoustie, for putting a smile back on my face. (Watch it, not what you are thinking!) He has managed to retrieve all my files - MAFPA and genealogy etc, from my Thinkpad, for which I give much thanks. The man who pays the bills will not be so happy. (He's fed up of MAFPA and my in ability to trace his English!!! relatives pre 1841)
Unfortunately the laptop is too poorly to be revived, so I'm about to send an SOS to Santa, for a replacement.

Word of warning - back up all your computer data, regularly!

I met my old boss before I retired and he said to me " Always have something on the planning board, if possible, if not, have a good book waiting to be read"
