It was with great regret that I read that Eric had passed away yesterday. He will be sorely missed by us all. He was a great FP and contributer to the Forum as well as passing on his innumerable amusing e-mails to us all. I never met him in person but had sveral conversations with him on Skype. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family. Ian

Thank you for letting me know that, Ian. He was, as you say, a great FP and contributor to the Forum. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and my thoughts are with his family.

Eric's emails will be sorely missed by me. On one of his last visits to Dundee a few years ago he came in to the library and we had a chat for about 15 minutes. A lovely man.

I never met Eric either, although he was probably just a year below me at school. But like everyone else who contributes to the Forum, I'm sure, I feel that I've lost a friend.

I was shocked to read of Eric's death in the Courier yesterday.
I met him a couple of times on his home visits and I will miss our blethers on Skype.
Eric was one of the good guys and will be sorely missed.

Eric's passing is indeed a great loss to all of us and our condolences to his family.

Laurie and I met up with Eric in 2004 when four of the Forum participants formed a team for a Quiz Night at a pub in Broughty Ferry. The team was Eric, Thelma, David MacDougall and me. It was a lot of fun.

Eric will be missed and remembered.

I just read the notice of Eric Dargies passing I was shocked, like most of us I felt that Eric would be around for ever. He will indeed be greatly missed.

I was really sad to learn of Eric's passing. I happened to be looking on the site today to establish a contact for Eric as I've recently met a Morgan classmate of his from the 40s - George Myles, who like myself has retired to Pitlochry.
Eric played football with my brother Bill for Morgan F.Ps in the early 60s. This is a direct quote from the 1961 school magazine F.P. section "The leading goal scorers for the season were W.Mitchell with 16 goals, E.Dargie, 13 goals"

Eric was indeed a great friend......I met him via the Forum when Ann and I were domiciled in the USA.....many a laugh we had ....We had the immense pleasure in visiting Eric and his dear wife Phyllis in their home in Lismore N.S.W.....this lovely experience we had twice....the last was in April 2010. A "Gentle" gentleman was Eric.... indeed he was one of the nicer people to have known.

(My rather late tribute was caused by our travels.....we are currently in the heartland of Mexico visiting daughter number three.....I had great difficulty in getting wifi !)
