It happens all too frequently that we miss something that we feel we should have attended. Not having bought a newspaper for at least 18 years, I have missed many events that perhaps I should have attended, but to start the day off by reading the obituaries is somewhat depressing. Most of the other news as reported in newspapers is also usually depressing. Retire, stop reading newspapers, and ENJOY your life.

Yet again I have discovered that one of my former colleagues was a Morgan Academy FP. Duncan Torbet, for many years Chief Librarian, died a few days ago.
I feel just a touch embarrassed as the same situation arose with another former colleague (William MacGillivray), who was also an FP, and again I didn't know 'till after his demise

And another one - though this time not a colleague, but an aquaintance of over thirty years, Jim Knight whose funeral I attended last week. I first met Jim as a fellow drinker in the Ladywell Tavern way back around 1975, and then for many years more recently he was an almost daily visitor in Central Library

Thank you for passing on that information about Andy. That is dreadful news. He was a very faithful contributor to the forum and we had some great on-line discussions, debates, rammies in those early days but always in good humour. I only met him twice, once at the Fete at the sports ground and once when a few of us met up with Ernie in the "Glens" pub (Andy's local) after either an AGM or a half yearly meeting.

I would like to pass on my condolences to his family and friends, the news must have been a terrible shock to them.

Deeply saddened to hear that Andy has passed away. He was a fine Morganite and contrbuter to the Forum. He called me when my wife and I were in Dundee back in 2004 but unfortunately it was not possible to get together. Our thoughts go out to his family.

I sat with David and Benjy, in the Crematorium today, to say farewell to Andy. Behind us were Andy's buddies from Morgan.
I went through 11 years of school with him, but only touched base with him after the fire and the Forum. He was a plain speaking man with a Jekyll and Hyde character. He and Benjy teased me about my "Secret Admirer" - fictional, I'm sure, but that helped me, today, to remember Andy as a funloving man.
He wasn't a religious man, so I won't ask you to pray for his family. Think kindly of the people he has left behind - his daughter Tia, sister, Margaret and partner, Carol

God Bless, Andrew Angus. 1949 - 2008

There is (please note present tense) also Jimmy Knight - one time school orchestra leader - who on earlier versions of the forum used the name Spartacus
