Congratulations Sandra, I'm sure you will be a grand Granny, or Gran, or GrandMa - do you have a preference which it will be?

We don't get the day off for elections! I had a couple of tonic wines last night. I'm Granny!

Congratulations Sandra, that's great news. And another nice, traditional name making a comeback? Anne and Anna have been absent from the lists for many years - in my time every school class had one or two Annes in it. Alice seems to be popular again too, and I suppose Kate will get a boost. (My nickname of Kate originated when I was at the Morgan, and I hated it - it was an old wifies' name at that time. So was Maggie - but now my daughter Margaret prefers to be known as Maggie).

Now this is where I really get into trouble! It`s a case "if the shoe fits" when Kate says hated her nickname of Kate when at school because it was an old wifies` name at that time. May I ask how old are you now?

I'm as old as my tongue and a wee bit older than my teeth!

I also have two grandsons, and have just heard that the younger one is learning to play the trumpet. We've always felt sorry that they live so far away from us, in the USA, but maybe that's a blessing after all!

Re: Grandchildren.
I have a 19 year old Grandson Named Austin who is training to be a Farrier and is off to Texas to spend his summer working as an apprentice to rack up 800 hours of work in order to qualify for admission to the second year of Advanced Farrier Science
in September. He is a very hard working young man. I am very proud of him, or did you notice that ?

Well done Hamish! Nothing wrong in being proud of your family! And well done Austin. I had a family member who was a farrier at Buckingham Palace

My maternal grandfather, whom I never knew, was a farrier, but not at Buck House, only Cupar o` Fife. But there were a lot of horses then.
