Single Malts or other libations of preference ....

Postby Dave Dempster » Sun Jan 06, 2008 10:10 pm

:D As I just mentioned on another thread, Bowmore, aged 12 years is the preferred single malt of the wife and I at the moment. Another Islay single malt in the store at the moment is Port Ellen, but at $250.00 (Canadian), it's a wee bit pricey  . Has anyone tried it :?:

I think I have tried that one Craig but it was a good while ago. There is nothing wrong with a good blend. My favourite blend is Chivas, Black Label, Bell's and ... and... .

Do you like a drappie, Dave?
When do you have a glass, before or after shovelling the snow? How much (snow) have you had lately?

Chivas is a very pleasant tipple, though Glenfiddich remains as my preference. Received a bottle of Passport at Christmas, and each Christmas we are given a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label by Japanese friends, who are happy to assist me in the use of it. My husband, John, does not drink whisky at all, so I have to be the one to use it up. Sad that should be the case!

Why sad? The more, you become merrier.

Anyone know anything about Label 5, a blend produced by the First Blending Company. Sold in St Pierre et Miquelon.

You could have told us earlier, Craig, I would have come round to open it for you.

Never heard of it DAve, but given that St Pirre and Miquelon is French territory the possibilities are mind boggling.

It seems it might be a Russian Company that is selling it. Obviously France is a market for it but I have not seen it elsewhere.

Given it`s pedigree, Hamish, a couple of glasses of Label 5 could be mind boggling.

This is a good one for Laird.
YAMAZAKI 10 year old single malt, distilled by Suntory near Kyoto.
Not tried it yet though. :D

White & MacKay will do for me - although my son brought me a back a bottle of Teachers from his holidays. (Quite appropriate, I thought!) Single malts are wasted on me - nae taste.

I bought three sample size bottles, 200mls in Oban, Taliskar 10 year old, Cragganmore, 12 year old and Lagavulin 16 year old., only sampled the 16 year old from Islay so far. Anybody tried Lochonora the liqueur made by Chivas.
