Spotted any F.Ps lately?

Postby Bruce Mitchell » Wed Feb 13, 2008 10:14 am

I bumped into plenty F.Ps at the well known Dundonian Tony Van Der Kuyl's funeral last Friday.
His wife Marlynn Zamorsca was in my year (1961-66)

Some of the names you may remember:- Frank Christie, Ronnie Knight, Ron Williamson, Brian Lewis, Tom Carness, Sandy Stevenson, Anya Seaton, Isobel Kelly, Sandra Pratt, Jean Barrie, Linda Christie, Laura Davie, Kate Brand, Jim Livie, Andy Hewitt, Charlie Steele, Dunc Gunn and many more.

No Eric, he was from Fintry and has worked for D.C.Thomson since around 1966. Also there were Billy Guthrie, Scott Brady and McHardie(is he in Edinburgh now?)

Yesterday I was in the company of Graham Coutts, Patricia Coutts and her husband Ken Swanson who were all at Morgan in the early Sixties.

Benjy

How are Pat and Ken? I sent them an electronic Christmas card but it was bounced back, seems they have changed their e-mail address.

David, Pat has now retired from teaching. Ken retired about 10 years ago from 'Rolls Royce' due to an illness. They still live in Paisley.

I remember Ken Swanson. He was Dux of Technical in 1963.

As I mentioned in the "What are you reading thread?" I noticed Ken Bell had retired at 65 from D.C. 's where he had been a reporter since around 1960.

Oh well, we'll not hold that against him. I believe he was Editor of the Dandy at an amazingly young age, and he went on to achieve even greater things!

Last week I contacted the St A's Alumni Assoc or should that be Alumnii or even Alumnus? Anyway I emailed the Assoc to ask how many St A. Grads were on the Assoc's records as living in Newfoundland and Labrador. The response was 6. I knew of one other than me. It turned out that another of the 6 is a friend of my brother. I did a google search of the other 3. One I could not trace, another had moved to Ontario and the last one turned out to be teaching at the university. I bumped into her and her husband the next day and we had a grand old chat.

So, I wonder how many Morgan FP's are here in NL. Well, my brother and I are here and Bill Duncan I think is still here.

Anyone remember an Elaine Hay, b 1944? She had relatives in Balgavies Place. (She had Canadian connections.)

Today, at TVFHS I asked about Eaine Hay. Lo and behold one of the volunteers said his cousin lived opposite her in Balgavies Place. It's A very small world.
