Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.

Youth is when you're allowed to stay up late on New Year's Eve. Middle age is when you're forced to.

What period is it, then, when yoy are able to say "To hell with it!" Toast Hogmany with your wife at 10 p.m. and just go to bed and read for 20 mins?
As Ronald George Smith, I attended the Morgan Academy from 1947 to 1960. My sister Vivian (two years my senior) and brother Euan (two years my junior) also attended the Morgan.

If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without alcohol,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

Then You Are Probably........................................

I haven't heard anything on the Fukushima nuclear plant for some time. What is the latest? Is it under control yet?

In a word, No. I realise other matters of news came along and Fukushima was relegated in the news columns across the world. There is now a 20 kilometer exclusion zone, enforceable by law, around the reactor which is still spewing radio active water into the ocean. Water is continuing to be hose piped into the building by fire engines and other means to keep the reactor rods` temperature down. As I understand it, the authorities still do not have a concrete plan about what to. It may seem a bit like closing the gate after the horses, but all the other nuclear plants, I think 27, have been shut down. The whole country has been encouraged to use less electricity and to follow this directive many gate lights, garden lights, balcony lights, etc. have been turned off. There is still a HUGE waste of electricity and I am willing to bet that after summer these lights will be back on.

And today, the prime minister overwhelmingly survived a vote of no confidence in his handling of the disaster. However, in spite of that, he has resigned and is expected to depart by the end of the month. It seems that politicians are the same the world over. Pity they cannot put aside their petty squables and work together at times of crisis.
